Materials:
Manufactured with either white or brown Kraft paper.
Paper comes in a plain or ribbed Kraft.
Most common paper weights are between 90gsm to 120gsm on kraft, and coated paper is usually 120gsm.
If you require something more bespoke, we can tailor a solution to meet your needs.
Printing Methods & Capabilities:
Flexo Overprint 2 colours maximum
Flexographic (flexo) printing uses a flexible printing plate to transfer the ink onto the substrate being printed, typically plastic, metallic films, cellophane and paper. The printing capability is not as good as lithographic printing, and is not really suitable for fine tone work and detailing.
Flexo overprinting allows us to print onto stock items so is perfect for short print runs. On most products, we can print in 1 or 2 colours. The best print results are on flat surfaces so the print area available is limited by the construction of the bag or box. Due to the uncontrolled nature of the printing, registration cannot always be guaranteed, and reverse out printing is not recommended.
Stack Press
A stack press can usually print in between 4 and 8 colours, with six being the most common that you find. The stack press gets its name from the individual ink/printing sections, which are oriented in a vertical stack. Paper or plastic passes through each one in turn. They offer quick setup which is great for short runs; however they tend to have a lower print capability for tone work and are unable to maintain tight registration.
Central Impression Press
A CI press is different to a stack press, as there is a single large cylinder that supports the paper or plastic as it comes into contact with a series of printing plates, one for each colour that is being applied. Central impression presses can have anywhere from two to eight printing units, with six being the most common. The advantage of CI presses is that you can print at a much faster rate than a stack press while maintaining much tighter registration and a higher quality tone work. Unfortunately they take longer to set up and so are not used on short runs.
Our Packaging Consultants will be able to give you reliable advice about the replication of your logo to ensure that we never compromise in quality.
